This introduction to environmental opportunities in and out of the classroom features faculty from the Environmental Studies Program, student leaders from the Green Club, and staff from university sustainability programs.

It will be an easy opportunity to learn about the Environmental Studies major and minor, new degree programs, environmental courses, campus recycling, and opportunities for trips and service through the Green Club.

Wednesday, April 18: Green Rebuilding in Post-Katrina New Orleans, Kendall Cram Room in the UC, 7pm. Panel featuring Charles Allen, Holy Cross Neighborhood Association and U.S. Green Building Council; Pamela Bingham, Clinton Climate Initiative; Micah Walker Parkin, Alliance for Affordable Energy; and City Council President Oliver Thomas. Join us in talking with three female environmental activists working to make our community more sustainable, safe and healthier.

Meet Pam Dashiell, president of the Holy Cross Neighborhood Association and neighborhood point person on several initiatives to bring sustainable rebuilding to the Holy Cross neighborhood and the Lower 9th ward; Micah Walker Parkin, Program Director for
the Alliance for Affordable Energy and a voice in the movement to halt global warming and promote clean energy; and Anne Rolfes, director of the Louisiana Bucket Brigade and an advocate for neighbors in St. Bernard fighting for compensation from the Murphy Oil Spill.
